The Tier 4 General visa allows persons over the ages of 16 to come the UK and study. The visa entitles all applicants to:
- Study and live in the UK
- Work in the UK
In order to apply for a Tier 4 General visa to the UK, an applicant must satisfy the following minimum requirements:
- Must be over the age of 16
- Must be accepted unconditionally at a registered educational institution for a course that meets minimum requirements
- Must have maintenance funds to support them whilst studying
- Must have competent English Language skills

Dependants may apply with the applicant if the course being undertaken is at certain NQF level and is longer than 12 months.
