How Favourable Canada’s Current Job Market is for Foreign Workers?

In 2018, Canada added a total of 163,000 full-time jobs. Thanks to the agenda the unemployment rate decreased to 5.6%, which was pretty low across the globe. Now, the estimated unemployment rate is around 5.8%, according to Statistics Canada.

Continuing, a report on Job market changes happened in the months of January, February and March in Canada!

Changes in the Job Market

January As mentioned before, in early 2019, the unemployment rate was 5.8%.
In January, the increase in overall employment was 327,000, or 1.8%.
The employment increased for both women and men within an age range of 15-24. At the same time, employment was down for the individuals aged 55 and over.
Some of the Atlantic provinces like Quebec experienced a declining growth rate of jobs. On the other hand, the western provinces like Alberta and British Columbia had a slight increase in their job rates.
Prince Edward Island entered the phase of many construction developments that will last through the year.

 

February     Like January, the unemployment rate remained at 5.8%.
    In February, the increase in overall employment was 369,100 i.e. 1.8%.
    The number of young people employed (aged between 15 to 24) in Canada was 29,000 by February.
    The employment rate increased in the Province of Ontario by 37,000 in February. The unemployment rate was 5.7%. Unlike January, the employment rate of Quebec increased a little, which is why the unemployment rate changed to 5.3%.
    In February, the employment fell by 3,300 in Manitoba. But to our surprise, the unemployment rate fell to 5.3%

 

March      In March, the increase in overall employment was 332,000 i.e. 1.8%.
    A total of 6.2% of immigrants who landed recently were unemployed.
    Coming to the provinces, for Saskatchewan, the Employment increased by 3,900 and the unemployment rate stayed at 4.9%.
    The province of New Brunswick experienced a rise of 3,100 employment rate while the unemployment rate decreased by 0.6%.
    In Prince Edward Island, an additional 2,000 people got employed in March. The unemployment rate decreased to 1.4%.
